Bishop Edward Holmes Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7 - 8

Bishop Edward Holmes was born May 19, 1936 in Mullins, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Edward and Etta Davis Holmes. Bishop Holmes departed this life on October 20, 2020. Bishop Holmes was educated in the public schools of Mullins SC. He graduated from art school in New York where he became an artist/painter. He was united in holy wedlock to Beaulah Campbell Holmes on June 11, 1955 and was blessed with seven children. Bishop Holmes was a devoted husband and father. He loved the Lord and loved the church. At the age of 12, he accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized in Jesus Name. From that time forward, he devoted life faithfully and whole heartedly to serve his savior in each season of his life. He pastored The New Covenant Church of Jesus Christ in Timmonsville, SC until his health declined. He was dedicated to the ministry. He took his faith seriously and had a strong spiritual foundation. Bishop Holmes was faithful to God, his wife, and children. He left a legacy of love and perseverance. He touched our lives in many ways. His dedication to the ministry will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Etta Holmes; his wife of 65 years, Beaulah Campbell Holmes, and one brother Raymond Holmes. He leaves to cherish his memory seven children: Michael (Alice), Angelo (Carolyn), Stanley (Vanessa), Rodney (Antoinette), Virgil (Dorothy), Jeffrey (Tonita) Holmes, and his only daughter Renee (William) McCormick; twenty -one grandchildren: twenty -six great grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Holmes Cooper and Deborah Golihar; a host of close relatives and friends.
