Jimmy Davis, the son of Henry and Mamie Jackson Davis, was born January 15, 1945 in Florence County. On December 22, 2020, he answered God’s call and transitioned from labor to reward.
Jimmy was educated in the public school of Florence County. His early years of employment was spent working at Florence Iron Steele for over 20 years as a welder. Later he worked for Delta Mills in Pamplico and then retired.
Jimmy was a devoted member of Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church, where he had a passion for making grills, grilling, and cooking for churches, family gatherings, and different community activities.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Joe Davis, one granddaughter, X’Zanthia Singletary, three sisters: Frances Eldridge, Ruth Gainey, and Mary Becoat.
To cherish his memories is his faithful wife, Mary Davis of the home; one daughter Teresa (Chris) Singletary of Pamplico, South Carolina; two sons, Stacy (Julia Renee) Davis and Tyrone (Yahfah) Davis, both of Florence, South Carolina; his stepchildren, Latonya (Ervin) Braddy, Diane Gayle and Yvonne Mahone; two sisters, Margie Thomas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Janice (Maxwell) Timmons, of Pamplico, South Carolina, and Dennis (Moe) Davis of Florence, South Carolina; five precious granddaughters, Shaniqua Davis, Taylor Overton, Jakera Malloy, Jazmine Davis, Ti’Anna Davis, two grandsons, Tyvon (Tanisha) Singletary and Tyreeon Davis; his in-laws, Willmar (Mary) Cain, Fannie McKoy, Lille (John) Guiles, Ruby (Otis) Chandler, John Myers Jr., Jean Myers, George Gainey and George Eldridge; also, six beautiful great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
