Shirley (Elnora) Timmons, 72, of Timmonsville, SC Transitioned to Glory on 9 April 2020 at McLeod Health Center, Florence, SC. She was born to Mr. Roy and Mrs. Minnie Ruth Daniels, in Pamplico, SC on 14 June 1947, and soon afterwards was adopted permanently by Rev. Oscar E. (“O.E.”) and Mrs. Virginia Jackson of Pamplico, SC.
Elnora graduated from Gibbs High School, Pamplico, SC in 1964 and went on to graduate from Durham Business College, Durham, NC, which led to the beginning of her business career with IBM Corp at Research Triangle Park, Raleigh-Durham, NC. After several years she took leave of her career and united in marriage with Air Force SSgt Lindwood M. Timmons (Woody), on 18 April 1970. Her career then became Mother, Wife, and Air Force Family Member. After a few years she returned to the business sector as a Receptionist at Country & Western Radio Station, KBUC, San Antonio, TX, followed by employment with US Postal Service, Orlando, FL, and she finally retired as a Postal Clerk in Oviedo, FL in 2004.
Elnora spiritual and interactive skillsets which developed early in life and continued to be one of the greatest assets, can probably be attributed to her parental guidance from the two dedicated sets, “Jacksons & Daniels”; as well as the always close interaction with her paternal siblings, who always lived nearby as children. She was always very competitive and took lots of pride in her achievements. Athletic competition came natural early in life, and led to becoming a member of the Gibbs High School Girls Basketball Team, followed by several sports at the collegiate level, and eventually the Women’s Softball Team of Grant Heights Family Housing Area (Joint Service DOD), Tokyo Japan. She eventually diverted her extra energy to supporting community projects and volunteer church work as time and health changed.
Elnora was preceded in death by both sets of parents, Jacksons and Daniels.
She leaves to cherish her life and memories: Husband (50 years), Woody Timmons; two sons; Craig, Orlando, Fla. And Christopher, Apopka, Fla.; three brothers; Roy Daniels Jr., Lynchburg, SC. Calvin Daniels (Ann), Pamplico, SC, and Bobby Daniels (Roberta), Rock Hill, SC.; two sisters; Maxine McCoy (Johnny),Effingham, SC, and Cynthia Parks, Pamplico, SC.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
“See You In Glory Sweetheart”- Woody
